Rescuing Sprite A Dog Lovers Story of Joy and Anguish
Rescuing Sprite A Dog Lovers Story of Joy and Anguish
Although Mark Levin is known as a constitutional lawyer and a nationally syndicated broadcaster, he is, first and foremost, a dog lover. In 1998, he and his family welcomed a half-Border Collie/half-Cocker Spaniel they named Pepsi into their lives. Six years later, his wife and son persuaded him to adopt a dog from the local shelter, a Spaniel mix. It turned out he was older than originally thought, and he was the most beautiful dog they’d ever seen. They named him Sprite. Their lives would never be the same.
During the next two years, Sprite and Pepsi were inseparable. And Sprite’s bond with the Levin family deepened. Friends, neighbors, and even Mark’s radio audience came to know and love Sprite. But Sprite’s health deteriorated — even as his spirits remained high and his beauty and grace continued to inspire. Between Thanksgiving and Christmas 2006, the Levin family said their emotional final good-bye. Crushed and consumed with grief, Mark turned to family, friends, and fans for help. But new hope came when the Levins least expected it.

5 Stars This was awsome!
I bought this book for our daughter and granddaughters, who also just recently lost a long time pet, a black lab. What a wonderful dog she was, and how it hurt so much to lose her. This book , helped us all to get through her leaving us, very well written , with so much love and compassion. Recommend to anyone having to go through the same circumstances.
5 Stars Heartwrenching…
I bought this book about 6 weeks after the death(12-11-07) of my precious Lucki. She was eleven years old. I was there when she was born, I was there when she went to be with God in Heaven. What a wonderful and faithful companion. The emotions expressed within the pages of this book mirrored my own. Lucki was sick for 22 days, letting go was nearly impossible. I had made the decision the night before to have her euthanized, she had let me know she was tired. The next morning after visiting the vet, making the decision, I took her on one last car ride(one of her favorite things). She still enjoyed the ride, it was on that ride that she began to leave and I pulled over, held her close to me and talked to her as she departed from me. She was just as “mutt” as some would say, but she touched my life in such a way that I will never be the same. Rescuing Sprite helped me with my grief that I was not the only person to feel the way I did. Thanks for a wonderful book.
1 Star Sometimes, evil and boredom join forces to kill defenseless pet creatures
Documentary evidence, ladies and gents: A foul heart and an empty mind, a life misspent spreading bigotry and fear, a loveless home and a world without adjectives or ideas, all these can unite to make a tiny-skulled spaniel mix die horrifically in Father Coughlin’s cellar morgue!
Would have been better with more bikinis.
5 Stars Brilliant and Heart Warming Book
This is a brilliant and heart warming book. If your heart strings are not pulled on while reading this book you must not be breathing. I recommend it to any animal lover.
5 Stars Thank you Mark for helping me through grieving over loss of my Jackie Pooh
I believe everything happens for a reason, so when I purchased “Rescuing Sprite” and “Liberty & Tyranny” on amazon, it was meant to be that I received “Sprite” first and finished it before “Liberty” arrived. I didn’t realize how much I needed to cry and grieve the loss of my beloved white german shepherd, Jackie Pooh, until I read Mark’s story about rescuing Sprite. Back in the Spring of 2008,I learned that my best friend Jack had cancer and after several operations and various medications and procedures, I too had to make the hardest decision regarding my dear dog’s quality of life. Almost a year later I cried all over the pages reading Mark’s story and he helped me realize that I wasn’t alone in still missing my best friend, Jack. Thank you Mark Levin, I’m almost through with “Liberty & Tyranny”,which is a totally different kind of book, but it is just as liberating and inspiring as “Sprite”.

5 Stars Best Chicken Book ever!
This book has all the info you need to get started and keep going with chickens. Very informative, and easy to read.
5 Stars chicken raising
Great book for the beginning chicken farmer. Covers everything. More information than I needed, but interesting.
5 Stars Practical and informative without the fluff
Many other chicken books add in lots of fluff about breeds, chickens as pets, etc. This book skips the fluff and takes a practical approach to addressing everything a person would need to know to successfully run a backyard chicken operation, or a small commercial operation. The author carefully distinguishes her opinions from facts, which I much appreciated. No matter how many other chicken books you will buy, you will eventually come back to this one. It’s the bible of chicken raising.
5 Stars Great!
Great for the beginner or the seasoned chicken person as a reference! Easy to read!
5 Stars Best chicken Book
This is hands down the best chicken book. Everything you ever need to know and then some. Highly recommended!!
Cesars Way The Natural Everyday Guide to Understanding and Correcting Common Dog Problems
Cesars Way The Natural Everyday Guide to Understanding and Correcting Common Dog Problems

Fans of the National Geographic Channel’s The Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan will be grateful for Cesar’s Way, an accessible guide to help new and current dog owners better understand the needs of their beloved pets. If you are not yet a fan, try to catch a couple of episodes of the remarkable show–you will be amazed, impressed, and motivated to create a healthier, more fulfilling relationship with your dog. In Cesar’s Way, Cesar explains that dogs are not complicated, and despite what various owners think–not human. They rely on three key elements in their lives: exercise, discipline, and affection (in that order). “Problem dogs” can be attributed to “problem owners,” owners who don’t understand and misinterpret their dog’s behavior. Cesar’s Way is really a training program for dog owners, with chapters devoted to understanding the “power of the pack,” taking responsibility for “how we screw up our dogs,” and learning how to manage aggression. Cesar’s book (a must-have for new and old dog owners) moves beyond basic obedience school techniques, and teaches owners how to change unwanted behavior by better understanding their “best friends.” –Daphne Durham

Cesar Millan’s Top 5 Tips for Going to the Dog Park
1. Make sure your dog is spayed or neutered, has all her shots, and is in good health. Under no circumstances should you bring a sick dog to a dog park!
2. Do not use the dog park as a substitute for the walk! If you drive to the park, leave your car a block away and take your dog on a vigorous walk of at least thirty-five minutes to drain some of her energy. Never take an over-excited dog to the park.
3. While at the park, don’t “punch out” on your calm-assertive leadership. Be aware of your dog at all times, and take responsibility for her behavior.
4. A calm-submissive dog will not attract another dog’s aggression–but an excited dog, a weak, timid dog, or an aggressive dog can become a fight-magnet.
5. Know your dog! If your dog has poor social skills, is overly fearful or is dog aggressive, or if you have not yet established your calm-assertive leadership with your dog, find a more controlled way to introduce her to the company of other dogs, such as “play dates” with one or two other dog owners.

5 Stars Dog Owner’s Bible
Written in an easy to read conversational tone. Lots of common sense here. Will keep this book within arms length for quick reference! My dog is happier already.
5 Stars Wonderful book!
Cesar’s no only has help to become a better pet owner, but also to appreciate living in the moment!
5 Stars good book
i’m not a specialist. i just love dogs. i bought this book with reserves - i dislike media hypes and celebrity talk. but… many of the things described in the book just made sense to me. made me learn more about dogs and about my own behavior too. his methods don’t seem cruel to me. why should it be cruel to walk your dog every day for 1 to 2 hours? that is the main thing one learns from this book. it may sound like a simple thing to understand and do. but this book really makes one understand the importance of walking and exercising as means to keep a dog calm and happy.
i enjoyed 98% of it - it is also well written, clear and to the point.
i recommend it as an overview - it doesn’t teach you how to train your dog to “leave it” or to “sit”.
3 Stars This is good, but check out Montana’s dog whisperer
Saturday Dogs…and the owners they trained
Cesar is great. But to get a practical, step by step understanding of how dogs think, get “Saturday Dogs……and the owners they trained”, by Susan Overfield. She is Montana’s dog whisperer, and has been at it for 38 years, quietly changing dog after dog, owner after owner. Overfield gets dogs, and she gets people. And she does something traditional trainers don’t—she guarantees her results. Overfield trains using a relationship based, dog centered method. She is Montana’s own dog whisperer. She has trained rescue workers, breed groups, herding dogs, hunting dogs, dogs of every stripe, age, color, and personality. Her book is a delightful series of anecdotes which illustrate her method and how dogs think, using actual examples of dogs she has trained. The name of the book comes from her popular Saturday classes. Overfield trains around the country privately. She does fundraisers for rescues and shelters, and she also is acclaimed for speaking to large groups, including animal based trade groups. She writes like she talks, which is smart, witty, and unvarnished truth. Pick this book up here, or at her website: [...]. Watch the video. She is for real.

5 Stars Elmo
My 2 year old daughter loves Elmo and animals. Very, very cute video. I even enjoyed watching it over and over and over!
5 Stars My granddaughter loves this video!
I bought this for my granddaughter at the request of my daughter-in-law. They used to borrow it often from the library but it wasn’t always available. Now she has her own copy and can enjoy it every day. I’ve never viewed this video personally as I live in another state from them, so I can’t tell you any specifics about it. My granddaughter just turned 2 years old and loves Elmo. This one is her favorite video…that’s all I can tell you!
5 Stars the most entertaining thing I’ve ever seen for young kids
I love Elmo’s World, and watch these nutty DVDs over and over again with my daughter. They are hilarious, crazy, silly, wonderful. I encourage you to buy a bunch of them for your children and for yourself.
5 Stars Elmo World - Pets
This was a Christmas gift for my youngest grandson who just turned 2 years old. He loves Elmo, and my daughter says that he really enjoys watching this DVD.
4 Stars Elmo is always a hit!
My Son Loved the “Cats” part of this DVD. My only comment on it is that it includes a segment on “Dogs”, which is exactly the same as the segment on the “Babies, Dogs and More” DVD that I had already purchased before. The duplication was dissapointing to me, I would not have bought this DVD had I known it contained some of the same material I had.
